Founded by mother-daughter duo Aishwariya and Minakshi Jhawar from Kota, Rajasthan, Ekatra Handmade was born from a simple observation Aishwariya made during her design thesis across rural India: homemakers everywhere had extraordinary craft skills — stitching, embroidery, making — and nowhere to use them. She saw the same story at home in her own mother, and the two built Ekatra together to change it. The brand's products — journals, pouches, bags and gift hampers — are entirely handcrafted by trained homemakers from in and around Kota, using recycled and upcycled fabric; through their Second Life Project, Ekatra has reclaimed over 75,000 metres of textile waste to date. Having earned an early bulk order from Fabindia and a Rs 20 lakh deal on Shark Tank India, Ekatra is a proven name for conscious consumers who want their everyday objects to mean something.
